The 70 Shelby Mustang GT500, a high-performance variant of the Ford Mustang, marked a turning point in the history of muscle cars. Although no new production took place the following year, unsold 1969 models were marked as 1970 models, recognizable by a small front spoiler and characteristic stripes on the hood.
